How to Build a Mood Board That Actually Helps
Most people build playlists by adding songs one at a time and hoping it feels right. A mood board flips that. You decide the feeling first, then find items that match. Here is how to get the most from this workspace.
Start with the mood, not the songs
Before adding anything, pick two or three mood tags that describe what you want. Are you making something for a long drive, a quiet evening, or a workout? The tags act as a filter so you do not end up with a playlist that changes direction halfway through.
Use presets as a launch point
The six preset buttons fill your board with sample items and matching tags. They are not meant to be your final list. Think of them as scaffolding. Swap out items that do not fit, change tags, and rename the board to match your own idea.
Watch the mood summary
The bar chart at the bottom of the canvas shows how many items have each tag. If your "Chill Evening" board has more "Energetic" items than "Calm" ones, something is off. The summary is a quick check before you export.
Common mistakes
Adding too many items with no tags makes the board hard to read. Tagging everything as "Happy" defeats the purpose. Try to give each item the tag that best matches its feeling, even if it seems obvious. Also, boards with fewer than five items rarely show a clear mood pattern. Aim for at least eight.
Saving and sharing
Your board saves automatically in your browser. For a shareable link, click "Share Link" and copy the URL. The other person will see your exact board. For a permanent copy, use "Export JSON" and save the file. You can reload it later by importing on a future visit.
